Anime: Thermae Romae

Thermae Romae is a light-hearted comedy about Lucius who designs public baths in ancient Rome. Where does he get his inspiration from? Modern-day Japan of course. It’s an interesting albeit short anime about everything related to onsens. If you’ve ever wondered what historical people would have thought of the stuff we use now, this anime provides an answer.

Thermae Romae serves as an entertaining distraction from your mundane everyday anime life. I don’t think there’s anything quite like it out there. And because it’s only 6 episodes (each 12 mins long), it doesn’t get boring. There’s not much animation going on (expect heads with moving mouths) but the subject matter more than makes up for it.

Worth watching if you need a short break and some laughs. Also you’ll learn a bit about Roman history as well as Japanese onsens.
