Anime: Computer Kakumei: Saikyou x Saisoku no Zunou Tanjou

Computer Revolution: The Birth of the Most Powerful and Fastest Brains is an interesting anime. It tells of a future not too far off in the year 2020. Computers have become even more advanced, but because it’s only 8 years into the future, many aspects of real life hasn’t changed. The advancement of computers is also fairly believable.

Lovely animations and a decent story-line aside, I liked the main character. The whole show is only 10 mins, so there’s not a lot of time to get to know her, but in that short time we see her change and mature. It’s a heartwarming short that displays how  integral computers will be in our lives. This seems only natural considering how dependent we are on technology now. However what made me really appreciate this anime was the idea that we as the creators and users of technology should be putting this technology to good use.   It’s a timely reminder especially as the younger generation grows up with mobile phones or tablets in hand. We have so many more opportunities to connect, to change lives, to explore and to create. Ideas can be communicated easily and there’s truly a growing global village that makes the generation of ideas and plans so much easier.

Let’s not waste these opportunities stalking people on facebook (something I’m guilty of as well), let’s not spend all our time watching anime. As technology progresses there will continue to be more chances to change the world and make it a better place. But this can only be done if we use technology wisely and continue to expand our horizons.

It’s a beautiful message conveyed in a beautiful, do take the 10 minutes to watch it for yourself.
