Anime: Minami-ke Tadaima

Minami-ke Tadaima

As I mentioned in a previous post, Minami-ke is one of my favourite slice of life animes. I appreciate the comedy and I love the Minami family, quirks and all. This season has been no different. It tackles a range of periods through the year with each episode concentrating on a main theme that usually comes from a phrase or a word.

It’s cute and entertaining, although I think there’s a better appreciation of some of the jokes for people who have watched previous seasons. Inside jokes do make up a sizeable portion of this anime, so it’s not that friendly for new viewers. At the same time, it does feel as if the anime has grown up a little. The jokes are tending towards more mature audiences, even though the youngest sister is still in elementary school. Furthermore, too my chagrin, there’s an increase in fan service. Thank goodness it’s not too overwhelming, but still noticeable.

All in all, I had a really good time with this anime. It’s been about a month since I’ve delved into a series and it’s been an enjoyable time with this anime. I highly recommend giving the first season a shot and if Minami-ke is familiar to you, what do you like about it?
